GlanNant Cranberry

"Rosie" was my first pony.
She was the last Filly ever born at GlanNant Farm. I'll never forget the day she was born. I walked into the barn and was informed that "Berry" had had a filly. I asked what she looked like and was told "She's got really big ears".
Well needless to say, "Rosie" is not the ideal Welsh Pony. She certainly doesn't have the small refined head that they're known for. But the one thing "Rosie" has is heart. Perhaps a little too much at times.

"Rosie" found her rider in Libby. Libby was young, fearless and thank God a little Naive. I don't think she would have put up with all "Rosie's" tricks otherwise. I remember many a lesson with "Rosie" rearing at the monsters in the corners, or refusing to go anywhere near that so called jump.

And now that its all said and done, I'm not sure which one of them learned more. Or for that matter which one is more stubborn. But by the summer of 1999, Libby and Rosie were a team. A virtually indestructible team. However, Libby acquired the Curse of Kelviden Farm and brought home numerous reserve champion after reserve champion. Finally culminating in a National Reserve Champion.
The Funny thing was that both Libby and I felt it was the most fitting way to end their partnership.

I don't know where "Rosie's future may lie. I'm sure there are endless children out there that will never know how much work Libby put into the once wild pony. For now "Rosie's" one of the best trained ponies I've ever seen. She can pack around with the best of them.

However, I guess anyone who ever tries to pull her mane will appreciate the fire that still burns inside her. And yet I don't think I'd have her any other way!!!!
